It was an extremely cold night in the Savage Frontier as Lucas sat at his wife’s bedside holding her hand. Retia was with child and carrying a high fever. Lucas had done all he could for her, and all that was left now was to wait and see if Uthgar would intervene. After several hours Retia’s condition only grew worse, and she pleaded with Lucas to save their child. There was an evil moon on this night and Lucas knew he was going to lose one of them. So after much hesitation he forced the birth of the child. There was a long moment of silence which seemed to last forever. Then with his wife taking her last breath the baby took her first. For a second Lucas thought he saw Retia’s spirit move into the new born baby. Lucas was overcome with grief as he held the baby and his wife in his arms. His oldest son Jerab was in the room with him and noticed the baby did not seem right. Lucas had to suppress his grief and focus on the baby that was struggling to survive. The small little girl was born about a month too soon and seemed to be ill with the same sickness the mother had. Lucas looked the baby over carefully to make sure nothing else was wrong, it was during this examination that he discovered a tiny birthmark on her right shoulder blade; it was oddly shaped. During the next few days the brothers took turns with the father watching over the tiny one as she slowly improved. She had a strong will to live and quite the temper that was expressed with the strong cry that she was not bashful in using. -Lucas Helder-

Retia was not of the Uthgardt barbarians. When she was about fifteen her family was traveling thru the area when their small caravan was attacked by orcs. Lucas and his brothers were hunting in the area and help the travelers. Retia was one of the few that had survived. Since her mother and father were killed and she had no other relatives; she was allowed to stay with the tribe. When she turned eighteen Lucas took her as his wife. Her transition into the tribe was made easier because of her statuesque figure. The only difference between her appearance and the Uthgardt barbarians was she had fire red hair and theirs is black, and her facial features and skin tone is much softer and elegant. Her father was a ranger and his gift and love of animals was passed onto Retia. She took quickly to the large Clydesdale horses the people of the tribe used in many ways; most importantly as mounts for battle. It was not long before Retia was breeding and training the horses for the village, she had a special way with them unlike anyone else. Despite her heritage she was accepted into the tribe and given the respects as one of their own. -Retia Helder-

It was not until a few weeks that they realized the little one had no name, so they called a family meeting to decide what it would be. As the little one lay in the middle of the table the brothers and her father looked at her as they thought. She is very small, much smaller than a normal Uthgardt baby. Her skin was pale and she had fire red hair and bright green eyes. When she would smile at them it would melt your heart only until her temper got the best of her and she let out a blood curdling cry. She was clearly her mother’s daughter, the older she gets the more her father is convinced that her mother’s spirit was inside of her. The oldest, Jerab made the suggestion that she should carry their mothers name. Several agreed then the youngest, Kalub, thought that since she was the last of this line of Helders that she should honor both their mother and father and suggested Lucretia. All of the brothers agreed then turned to see what their father thought of this. Lucas sat for a moment watching the little one then stood and said. “Let it be, she shall be known as Lucretia Helder of the Sky Pony Tribe.” Since Lucretia’s father was the village Shaman he spent a lot of his time doing duties for the village. This left Lucretia with her brothers, Kalub mostly. He took over his mother’s responsibilities with the horses after her passing. Lucretia spent almost every day at the stables it was not long till Kalub noticed she had their mother’s gift with the horses. When she was ten she helped her bother with the birth of a colt. As a present he gave it to her and she called him Percy. She started spending more and more time with the horses till that became her full time responsibility. When she was fifteen she trained a horse that was to be used by the leader of their tribe. It was a very big honor for her. In addition to her horse breeding, she wanted to hunt with her brothers. This was something her father was opposed to but she had a way with him and soon he gave her permission. She had a natural talent for tracking and hunting, showing no fear for battle she became quite the little warrior. As she grew she became stronger and more beautiful every day. Soon it was her eighteenth birthday; the age where the men of the village would choose a mate. That morning Jerab came over early with her birthday present. They were sure it was going to be a busy day with the suitors coming to ask for Lucretia’s hand. The great sword was the weapon that her family used in hunting and battle. Which given her size was a bit much for Lucretia to handle. Since Jerab was the village’s weaponsmith he made her a custom great sword that was perfectly balanced for her size and strength. Lucretia was delighted with the gift and quickly started to gather leather to make a scabbard for it. The day went by slowly and no one came to their hut. At sundown, Lucas went to the leader’s tent to see why. He was saddened to learn that no one was interested in Lucretia. Despite the mark of Uthgar she was born with, many were afraid given her size that she would not be a good mate or mother, and that her sons would be to small to be of worth to the village. When he told Lucretia the news it upset her greatly. For once she felt like an outsider. Given her pleasant personality it was hard to see how sad she was inside as she carried on her daily routine. She focused on her horses and hunting, soon the pain of not being wanted was no longer there. This was her life and she accepted it. When she was not at the stables or cooking for her father she was hunting with Percy. It was a cool spring morning when Lucretia and Percy went out for a ride. Not far from the village she spotted a familiar sight, fox tracks. She had been tracking this silver fox for a few months never able to catch him. She followed the tiny paw prints that seem to stop near the stream. As they stood there for a moment a strange storm appeared from out of nowhere. The winds where strong and the lightning bolts were unlike anything she had ever seen. A strange circle of light appeared in front on them which spooked Percy, something that has never happened. Before she could react they were pulled inside the circle of light………. -Lucretia and Percy- -Lucretia-
